Located in Hampshire, England this once beautiful home of a UK Grand National crowned winner, named "Lovely Cottage", had since fallen into dilapidation that is until RIBA award-winning architects AR Design Studio transformed the space into a modern and elegant abode. While still keeping the original period features the architect team managed to create a sleek, minimal design that allowed the historical stables and wood elements to be showcased. Complete with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, sitting area, and outdoor terrace, this now family home is something to be desired.
As of lately I've been dreading the end of summer. No more care-free, sun dress wearing kinda days filled with too many popsicles and dips in the pool. However, thanks to the peeps over at Need Supply Co. and the release of their newest fall curated collection I'm starting to sing a different tune… Filled with plush layers, warm brown tones, and their always excellent selection of denim and boots, I'm rethinking these scorching days and instead day dreaming about some cool autumn breeze (and those Rachel Comey Mars Mules)!!
Designed by Hayden Walling, home of painter James Lechay (1907-2001), remains one of the best examples of Modest Bauhaus architecture near outer Cape Cod in Wellfleet, Mass. Built in the fifties and sixties, the summer homes, "Though humble in budget, materials, and environmental impact, the Outer Cape's Modern houses manage to be manifestos of their designers' philosophy and way of living, close to nature, immersed in art, and seeking community," according to the Cape Cod Modern House Trust. With the area filled with homes once belonging to other émigré European modernist the Cape Cod Modern House Trust was "founded to collect, archive, and share documentation of the outer Cape's exceptional modern architecture, restore a group of important, endangered modern houses, and to relaunch them as platforms for new creative work." This beautifully designed space can be seasonally rented, you can find out more information by going to We Need A Vacation, which would make for an inspirational getaway not just for the creatives and artists alike.
sale, sale, SALE! I love sales and I love Reformation! The brand combines two of my favorite things, fashion and sustainability, in a simply brilliant way. Even on sale their pieces still have a hefty price tag but knowing you're investing in more than just a garment can be worth the price. Especially, if you're choosing a piece that is classic and versatile. So after scouring through their newly marked sale to save you all some time I've selected some of the pieces that I truly love and think worthy of sharing…and very much want in my closet right now!
Oh, EVERLANE… Is there anything that I don't like about you? The answer is obviously no. I love you and all your beautifully, ethical designs that are always reasonably priced. Yesterday their newest footwear design, the knot sandal, was released and I've been daydreaming about getting my hands on a pair ever since! Christmas in July present?? That's a real thing… right?! Either way they're on my wanted list! Now if only I could decide between black and grey…
I have several favorite clothing brands that I love everything about but it's hard to say the same about activewear. Especially with the explosion of neon colors and psychedelic patterns galore… (I already lived through the 90's once so no thanks!) That is until I recently discovered Outdoor Voices. With their clean, minimal designs and focus on comfort and durability the only words that come into my mind are "sold". Now I just have to get back from vacation and start kicking A in the gym...
With more small local clothing labels popping up some times it's hard to stand out against the crowd. However, Nashville-based label, Jamie + The Jones doesn't seem to be facing that problem. Working and collaborating with other local artist, the labels creators and designers, Jamie Frazier and Hannah Jones, truly know how to create one-of-a-kinda pieces. With every garment hand dyed or 'marbled' no two pieces are the same! Their newest collection, and the over all appeal of the brand itself, is the perfect blend between simple and beauty. Which is exactly what they are aiming for, "Our goal since the birth of Jamie + The Jones has always focused on the blend of quality and effortless beauty, packaged into whimsical and wearable silhouettes that can be worn on any occasion." On top of that every garment is locally manufactured, sustained, and produced in their studio on Eugenia Avenue.
There's just something about the way the summer season makes you feel that I love so much. Autumn will always be my favorite in the way that it is almost this wise best friend you only see once a year who really helps put life into perspective… But Summer, Summer is like a fling gone wild. Every new day the allure of it all makes you fall more madly in love. Maybe it is thanks to all the unending adventure, the sun-kissed skin, the fresh delicious fruit and the sense of community as every one forgets the normal mundane boundaries as they strip to their skivvies to escape the heat. Despite the holiday weekend being over there are still two wild months of warm summer fling left which leaves plenty of time to get away! I, myself, am leaving for a little road trip with my fiancé tomorrow and with my mind distracted on packing I thought how does a modern woman pack while still leaving plenty of room for adventure in her bag? So here I've narrowed down some of my favorite traveling essentials that are multi-purposeful and won't weigh your luggage down! 1. A breezy cotton maxi that easily goes from site seeing to dinner without a wrinkle: Hadley dress- Reformation 2. The classic swimsuit but with a modern twist: The Anne Marie- Solid And Striped 3. Obviously you're going to need to put your essentials in something so I chose this weekender from Madewell. Their totes are nice, durable leather without the gouging price tag: The Transport Weekender- Madewell 4. A Towel that can have multiple purposes whether you sneak off to the beach or go out for a quick picnic: Tasseled Lagoon Towel- Anthropologie 5. The perfect summer sandal that can be quickly washed if it gets dirty: Isabel Slide- Need Supply 6. Use it as a skirt or a bathing suit cover up either way it looks adorable when eating ice cream: The Lia Skirt- Reformation 7. Whether you're staying in a hotel, hostel, or tent sometimes washing your hair just isn't a priority so to keep the oil at bay and have that wind swept beach look by trying a nice sea salt spray: Citrus & Ginger Sea Salt Spray- Cold Spring Apothecary 8. They protect your eyes and they're great to flirt with: Flowers in Brindle Tortoise- Raen 9. Because who doesn't love a jumpsuit? It's easier to pack and breathes better than denim: Hacienda Jumpsuit- Lou & Grey 10. Keep the fling alive by always having the perfect scent: Mermaid No. 1 Perfume Spray- Mermaid
